Another bird which occurs in Britain from breeding grounds in the Americas, but not terribly often. Most records are on the Scillies, although it has occurred inland. Possibly the similarity to our Green Sandpiper results in its being overlooked, the best distinguishing feature is the dark rump, although it is also somewhat slimmer and longer-winged; the eye-ring is usually more obvious. The left photo is a wintering bird in Venezuela, the other a vagrant on the Scillies.
