SNOWY-CROWNED or TRUDEAU'S TERN Sterna trudeaui

A distinctive tern, having no black cap but a black eye mask extending over the ear coverts and down the neck. It breeds on coasts and some way inland in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, dispersing north. The white crown in breeding plumage is unique in Sterna terns, with the bill-colour being the main indicator of a breeding bird (left).
