OLROG'S GULL Larus atlanticus

Until recently lumped with the previous species, Olrog's Gull breeds in only a few colonies on islands off the coast of Argentina, both range and numbers (c.8000 pairs) being small. Obviously sharing a common ancestor with Band-tailed Gull, the juvenile is distinctively different, this being one of the main criteria for its current status as a full species.
