FRANKLIN'S GULL Leucophaeus pipixcan

Breeding in the North American praries and wintering in the Humboldt Current, this gull is not uncommon as a vagrant to Britain although less often than Laughing. Interestingly, we have seen several together in Namibia, suggesting that birds may undertake their normal north-south migration paths having crossed the Atlantic, and are quite likely to turn up in Europe in consecutive years.
