As its name suggests, most commonly found in the Andes of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile, often
around high-altitude lakes. Although it does disperse to lower altitudes during the breeding season, most European birders aren't in South America
in their austral winter. Not a bird I've had a great deal of luck with in terms of photography, but included for interest.
