STREAKED SHEARWATER Calonectris leucomelas

Possibly the original Calonectris shearwater, a relatively common species breeding on forested islands. 90% breed in Japan, with small numbers in Korea, and Chinese and Russian territory. Dispersal in winter is to the New Guinea area, with some birds reaching Australian coasts. Like Cory's Shearwater and others of the genus they are usually found in flocks, often quite large.
