SLENDER-BILLED PRION Pachyptila belcheri

Another "original" species, but no splits have been suggested. Possibly less common than other prions, certainly we haven't seen large flocks. Known to breed on Indian Ocean Islands and the Falklands, it probably breeds elsewhere, and its distribution is almost circumpolar, also penetrating the Humboldt Current. Not the easiest to identify unless the bill is seen well, it really is thin compared to others, and is diagnostic.
