SLENDER-BILLED PRION Pachyptila belcheri

Another abundant prion, although somewhat local, breeding on the Falklands and islands off South America, and Crozet and Kerguelan in the Indian Ocean. However, it is the most dispersive prion, reaching Australia and New Zealand, often as "wrecks", and also the furthest north in the Humboldt Current, as far as Peru. It is one of the easier prions to identify, a strong face pattern and the slender bill distinguish it from others in its dispersal area, whilst the smallest black tip to the tail is useful, especially if comparing with Fairy and Fulmar.
