HEINROTH'S SHEARWATER Puffinus heinrothi

An endangered and little-known species, one of the world's smallest shearwaters. Although considered part of the Little/Audubon complex it is quite distinctive, white on the underside being restricted to a patch on the belly, and mottling on the throat, although some birds are almost all dark. The long slender bill is also distinctive, as can be seen from the long range photos I was lucky enough to get off the Solomons.
