PITT (ISLAND) SHAG Phalacrocorax featherstoni

An endangered endemic, found only in the Chathams, on several islands as well as Pitt, but only in small colonies with the total numbering less than seven hundred pairs, which may partly explain why I only have a couple of photos. This bird, taken in December, is a post-breeding adult so does not show the usual double crest, although the bill and eyes remain the same. It is thought to forage only up to 18km from its natal island, and has never been recorded elsewhere.
