Two species with their own genus, being very different from other Southern albatrosses in their overall grey-brown plumage, their habits and jizz. Sooty is the more northerly distributed on the whole, breeding on Indian Ocean and South Atlantic islands. Rarely seen in the Pacific except for a few vagrant records around New Zealand.
