Extremely difficult to distinguish from Common Snipe. Breeding from the tundra belt south to temperate montane meadows in central and
North-east Asia, it winters over a huge area from Japan, across Asia to the Arabian Peninsular, we had seen the species several times
before I got these photos in Sri Lanka. A vagrant may well have reached Europe or even the UK, but would almost certainly be overlooked
due to ID problems.
