NORTHERN JACANA Jacana spinosa

Closely related to the next species, this bird is fairly common on wetlands in Central America, these birds being taken in Costa Rica, where they are found on virtually every wetland of any size. Further south and Wattled Jacana starts to replace Northern, but there are records from southern USA (notably Texas).
