The smallest pratincole, found mainly in India and Nepal near large rivers, this bird was resting
in a field during the heat of the day in Goa. Normally they frequent sandbanks and shorelines
near their favoured rivers, and often occur in flocks, as on the River Kosi in Nepal. Not strictly
migratory, they tend to move downstream out of the breeding season and are often seen on estuaries and
coastal marshes.
