LARGE-BILLED TERN Phaetusa simplex

Primarily a freshwater species, this large tern has a striking upperwing pattern in addition to its large yellow bill. Its range covers much of Amazonia, where it follows ships, and also Colombia, Trinidad and Venezuela south to Northern Argentina. It is placed in its own genus.
