Another snipe in a distinct genus, although superficially like a small
gallinago, this is a very secretive species which relies on superb camouflage, sitting tight until
almost trodden on. Occasionally they come out in the open, as the centre bird taken on the Scilly Isles some thirty
years ago. More usual views are like the other birds.
