HUDSONIAN WHIMBREL Numenius (phaeopus) hudsonicus


The Nearctic equivalent of the widespread and familiar Whimbrel, there is increasing support for this to be split from the nominate race. Presumably the species would also include variegatus from Eastern Russia, which is similar in its lack of white rump and also fully-barred underwing.
