This handsome plover is widespread in Australia but quite thin on the ground, there
are few regular sites but any journey passing by its habitat, which is semi-arid grassland, is likely to reveal a few birds or a small
flock. One regular breeding site is the golf course on Rottnest Island, where two of these shots were taken, the one with chicks was
on a Plains Wanderer tour.
