A familiar duck in the UK, abundant across Europe and Asia, with
occasional breeding in more southern localities or even wintering areas. European birds are largely resident, others
winter in scattered locations as far south as the Phillipines and near the equator in Africa. Vagrancy to the USA
has increased in recent years, but is not as common as Ring-necked Duck in Europe.
