RED-BILLED TEAL Anas erythrorhyncha

A sort of African equivalent of White-cheeked Pintail, closely related. As with many ducks found in pairs or small parties in the breeding season, but abundant in the non-breeding season when very large flocks form. Found in most parts of sub-Saharan Africa except West Africa, also in Madagascar. Mainly resident but dispersive in the west, there are records of vagrancy, but all except several in Israel are deemed escapes. These photos were taken in Namibia.
