A more attractive Mallard than many, it was originally found on
all Phillipine islands, but has undergone a rapid decline due to hunting and habitat loss, and is now listed
as vulnerable. Some protection has now been afforded on Luzon and Mindanao, where it seems to be mainly found
nowadays. As I have never travelled to that part of the world these were taken at WWF Slimbridge, it being
easily kept and bred in captivity.
