Another South American sheldgoose, but markedly
different in its habitat requirements, and as such has a slightly different distribution. It
breeds in wooded areas, and may even perch in trees. Such areas, with swampy ground beneath,
are predominant in the Chilean mountains, although birds disperse to much the same areas as Upland
Geese. This is unfortunate as they are persecuted in much the same way, but are far from being
abundant and probably cause very little damage. Only a vagrant to the Falklands.
