This most beautiful of birds is the only all-white seabird. It shares most of its habits and distribution with Antarctic Petrel, although it is far commoner and has more breeding areas on the Antarctic Peninsula. It is thus far easier to see, but almost never settles on the water, although it is at its most attractive jinking between ice floes with its fluttering, bat-like flight. There is a suggestion of a "Lesser" species, but much more work needs to be done.
