RED-LEGGED SHAG Phalacrocorax gaimardi

Another Humboldt species, but with a small colony on the eastern littoral in Patagonia. Much less numerous than other birds of the area, it nests singly or in small groups, often in caves. At all ages distinctive, adults are one of the most attractive cormorants, being the sole predominantly grey species.
