Found over much of lowland Central and South America, the smallest grebe occurs in some numbers in Texas, but is rare in the rest
of the USA. All these birds except the left-hand one were photographed on a tiny wetland which I found on ebird less than a mile from our hotel on our last day,
having spent most of our trip viewing them distantly and getting poor record shots at best. The remaining shot was taken in Costa Rica.
