A race of White-tailed Tropicbird almost endemic to Christmas Island, in the Indian Ocean. Not thought to be
a good species, although the locals would like it to be, and suggest that the 10% or so of white-phase birds are vagrants from the other side of the Indian Ocean
e.g. Mauritius. No other differences apart from the colour, which is variable, and occasionally recorded elsewhere, the true position remains a mystery, but
certainly worth going to see.
