Despite being the only flightless Cormorant, indeed the only flightless Suliforme this has now been placed in the same genus
as Double-crested and Neotropic Cormorants. Its official name is no longer Galapagos Cormorant, perhaps because it only occurs on Fernandina and Isabella Island in western Galapagos,
but it is listed as vulnerable, its total population being only around 2000 individuals. It is highly sedentary and rarely moves more than 1km offshore. Photos were taken on slide film
in very harsh light, apologies for the poor quality.
