CASSIN'S AUKLET Ptychoramphus aleuticus

Breeds from the Aleutians to north Baja California. Although populations number in the millions, it is classed as Near-threatened because it is in decline. A distinctive, all grey auklet in its own genus, I have never had much luck with photography, these record shots are here to balance the main page. Often seen in pairs or small flocks, it is sedentary in the south but northern birds disperse south to form large flocks off California.
