Breeding on Indian Ocean subantarctic islands and fairly common off Australia in winter meant we were unlikely to photograph this species. However, just one pair breeds among 3000 Chatham's on Pyramid Rock, and whilst our boat was chumming off there, this bird flew past. It didn't come to the chum, and remains our only sighting. Of course, the split from Atlantic Yellow-nosed is contentious anyway. |
